Garland Tolbert
Defense attorney
Twenty minutes into a first meeting, most people want to know one thing: what happens next. Garland tells them, in order, and writes it down.
Garland grew up in Moncks Corner and started out working the docket in a public defender's office, where he learned that most cases turn on paperwork somebody didn't read.
He opened his own practice so he could take fewer cases and follow each one himself. He keeps three offices because his clients live in three different places, and a court date shouldn't mean a long drive just to see your lawyer.
He takes assault, juvenile and record-clearing cases, and sends everything else to lawyers he trusts.
